Singing

I had a dream last night. I was sitting in the light of a sunny window near a bird-loving friend. I smiled at the scene outside, then turned to her to say, “Whenever I am filled with so much joy I feel like I’m bursting, there’s something that happens inside me. It’s like poetry without words….like music without notes….it is why I do bird calls, actually. The birds get it. It’s the only way to share it aloud.”

When I awoke, I wrote to her to tell her about the dream. Then, a certain part of my favorite hymn wafted into my head.

Hubby teases me that I have multiple favorites of nearly everything. But, this is different. “In the Garden” has been at the top of my hymn list ever since I first heard it.

The portion of the song that wafted into my head was, “He speaks and the sound of His voice is so sweet the birds hush their singing, and the melody that He gave to me, within my heart, is ringing!”

That part has always struck me anyway, but I “heard it anew” right then. I pictured the birds in the Garden joyfully singing and praising, longing for His return. Then, when they hear Him, they are so in awe that they grow silent just to listen to Him. He had responded! He had come to the Garden! He was near!

Keep singing that unique melody that He gave to you. Keep listening for His voice.

My favorite verse, Zephaniah 3:17:

“ADONAI your God is in your midst — a mighty Saviour! He will delight over you with joy. He will quiet you with His love. He will dance for joy over you with singing.” (TLV)

“The LORD your God is in your midst, a Warrior who saves. He will rejoice over you with joy; He will be quiet in His love [making no mention of your past sins], He will rejoice over you with shouts of joy.” (AMP)

“Jerusalem will be told: ‘Don’t be afraid. Dear Zion, don’t despair. Your GOD is present among you, a strong Warrior there to save you. Happy to have you back, He’ll calm you with His love and delight you with His songs.” (MSG)
